1. Scope and responsibility
This Privacy Policy applies to CareerTrail AI’s website, accounts, career tools, digital guides, personalized services, and related support. CareerTrail AI is responsible for the personal information described here. Third-party websites and services have their own privacy practices.
2. Information you choose to provide
- Account information, such as your name, email address, and login-related records.
- Career information, including work history, education, skills, credentials, job preferences, and professional references.
- Documents and text you create or upload, including résumés, cover letters, job descriptions, and application materials.
- Instructions, questionnaires, and communications submitted for personalized résumé or application services.
- Saved jobs, application progress, training opportunities, transportation comparisons, and support messages.
- GED-learning information, such as language preference, study progress, quiz responses, hints used, and feature activity.
- Purchase and access details, such as the product, subscription or workbook status, payment status, purchase date, and Stripe transaction identifiers.
Before providing a professional reference’s information, obtain that person’s permission. Do not enter Social Security numbers, complete financial-account details, card numbers, passwords, medical records, immigration records, or other highly sensitive information that CareerTrail does not request.
3. Information collected automatically
When you use CareerTrail, the service and its providers may receive technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages or features used, timestamps, approximate region derived from IP address, error logs, security events, and cookie or local-storage identifiers. This information supports authentication, essential site functions, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, and service measurement.
4. How information is used
CareerTrail uses information to:
- Create and secure accounts, verify email addresses, and restore access.
- Save progress and provide résumé, cover-letter, job, training, reference, tracking, and planning features.
- Complete purchases, deliver digital products, and fulfill personalized services.
- Respond to support and privacy requests and send essential service communications.
- Detect fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical failures.
- Maintain, understand, and improve the reliability and usefulness of the service.
- Comply with law, enforce policies, and protect users and CareerTrail.
5. AI-assisted features
AI features operate only when you choose to use them. The text needed for your request—such as résumé content or a job description—may be sent to an AI service provider to produce the requested response. AI output may be inaccurate or incomplete. Suggestions are not added to saved documents or submitted to an employer automatically; you must review and choose whether to use them.
Do not include unnecessary sensitive personal information in an AI request. CareerTrail does not use your private résumé or application content to create public profiles or send applications without your direction.
6. Payments
Stripe processes payments. CareerTrail receives limited information needed to confirm the purchased product or service, payment status, customer access, refunds, and fraud review. CareerTrail does not receive or store your complete card number or card security code. Stripe’s own privacy policy applies to the payment information it handles.
7. Service providers and sharing
CareerTrail may share information with providers that support hosting, databases, authentication, file storage, AI processing, email delivery, payments, security, analytics, and customer support. They receive only the information reasonably needed for their function and are expected to protect it under contractual or legal obligations.
Information may also be disclosed:
- When you direct CareerTrail to share or export it.
- When required by law, legal process, or a valid government request.
- To investigate fraud, protect safety, enforce terms, or defend legal rights.
- As part of a merger, financing, sale, reorganization, or transfer of the business, subject to appropriate safeguards and notice when required.
CareerTrail does not sell or rent your personal information. CareerTrail does not send your résumé or account information to employers, schools, or training programs unless you deliberately choose to share or submit it.
8. Cookies and similar technology
CareerTrail and its providers may use cookies, local storage, and similar technology for sign-in, preferences, security, checkout continuity, and basic service measurement. Blocking essential storage may prevent some features from working. Where consent is legally required for a nonessential technology, CareerTrail will request it before use.
9. Data retention and deletion
CareerTrail retains account content while your account is active and for as long as reasonably necessary to provide requested features. After an account-deletion request is verified, CareerTrail will delete or de-identify information that is no longer needed, subject to reasonable processing time and limited exceptions for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, dispute resolution, transaction records, and backups.
Some records may be kept for a longer period when required by law or reasonably necessary to document purchases, refunds, consent, security events, or policy enforcement. Deletion from backups may occur through the ordinary backup-replacement cycle.
10. Security and incident response
CareerTrail uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls and trusted service providers. No online service or storage method can guarantee perfect security.
If CareerTrail discovers a breach involving personal information, it will investigate, take reasonable corrective steps, and provide notices to affected people or authorities when required by applicable law.
11. Your choices and privacy rights
You may review and update certain information within your account. You may request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your personal information by emailing johnny@careertrailai.com. CareerTrail may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional rights, including the right to appeal a denied privacy request or to use an authorized agent. CareerTrail will honor legally required rights and will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising them. Essential purchase, security, and account messages are not promotional and may still be sent while your account or transaction remains active.
12. Children’s privacy
CareerTrail is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly seek to collect their personal information through account registration. A child under 13 may not create an account or submit personal information. If CareerTrail learns that it collected personal information from a child under 13 without legally sufficient authorization, it will take reasonable steps to delete it. Users between 13 and 17 should use CareerTrail only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian where required by law. Paid personalized résumé and application services are not offered to users under 18.
A parent or legal guardian who believes a child under 13 provided personal information may email johnny@careertrailai.com to request review or deletion. CareerTrail may take reasonable steps to verify the requester’s identity and authority before acting.
13. Processing location and external links
CareerTrail and its service providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate. Privacy protections may differ from those in your location. External websites, job boards, schools, transportation providers, and affiliate links are governed by their own policies; review those policies before providing information.
14. Changes and contact
CareerTrail may update this policy as features, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated date will appear on this page, and material changes may also be announced in the service or by email when appropriate.
Privacy questions or requests may be emailed to johnny@careertrailai.com. Include the email associated with your account, but never send a password, complete card number, bank information, or Social Security number.
